One of Johnston’s early commissions was a gift for Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, a 26-inch bronze sculpture expressing the gratitude of the U.S. Citizens Congress in Washington, DC for Sadat’s work to achieve peace between Israel and it’s neighbors. Two years later, he completed the uplifting 19 foot sculpture for the entrance to the Lafayette Center in Washington, DC.
Over the years, Johnston has completed numerous commissions, from the towering Wedlock in D.C. to the Golden Voice Award medal commissioned by the Baltimore Opera.
Johnston’s clients are drawn to the depth of human thought and feeling expressed in his works, as well as his dynamic compositions. When he began his career, this was a rare combination in the world of sculpture; but the search for quality and human insight may be flourishing again in the world of fine art, where clients are seeking meaningful art of enduring value.
