JACOB AND THE ANGEL
Jacob, son of Isaac and grandson of Abraham, steals his brother Esau's birthright with the aid of their mother, Rebecca. He then flees to the land of Mesopotamia, where he labors for fourteen years. Finally, Jacob decides to return to his father's house. On the way, he confronts an angel, and the two wrestle throughout the night. In the end, the angel names him Israel. Jacob humbles himself before his brother, and the two reunite in a celebration. The sculpture is really about wrestling with our own conscience.
